m/m by Masayuki Marukawa
Masayuki Marukawa graduated from Bunka Fashion College in Japan and worked
as chief designer at Yohji Yamamoto. In 2004, Masayuki Marukawa presented
his first signature collection, m/m. (The m/m is pronounced "milli," as
in "millimeter.")
m/m is a women's RTW collection that combines casual deconstructionism with
strong femininity. The tailoring is forward-looking with an emphasis on
personal expression. Many pieces can be worn in a variety of ways, day-to-night
designs that can be turned inside out, upside down, or backwards. These
interchangeable designs allow for more individuality and show up clearly
in m/m's line.
