Born in Shanghai, but currently based in London, Wang Wei is said to be one
of the most innovative young designers to emerge from China. The mixture of
Wei's Eastern and Western backgrounds influences his design philosophy, which
balances contradictory elements. Known especially as a skilled tailor of coats
and jackets, Wang Wei contrasts romantic prints and patterns with the hard
lines of binding and pleating elements. Wei's fall/winter collection focuses
on black, grey, and ivory in high-quality heavy wool and silk satin. Wang
Wei was chosen as the feature designer for the Vogue China launch issue
and has also been featured in Surface, The Washington Post, Vogue,
and Elle.
